The Luanne Collins Senior Scholarship honors Hughston alumni who began their journey in our classrooms and are now preparing to pursue higher education. We encourage all eligible graduates to apply as we proudly continue our commitment to supporting students beyond their elementary years and investing in their future success.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be graduating high school in the current academic year
  • Have completed 5th grade at Hughston Elementary School in Plano
  • Be enrolling in an accredited undergraduate college or university for the 2026–2027 academic year

 

Application Materials

Applicants must submit the following materials:

  • Completed scholarship application
  • Personal resume outlining activities and experiences both inside and outside of school (examples may include employment, clubs, athletics, community service, or leadership roles)
  • Two letters of recommendation from an educator, employer, or another individual who can speak to the applicant’s character and accomplishments
  • Short essay (500 words or less) describing how attending Hughston Elementary impacted the applicant’s life and/or education

 

All applications and supporting materials must be submitted by April 17, 2026

 

 

Award Announcement

The scholarship recipient will be announced at the Hughston Senior Reunion on May 14, 2026.

Scholarship funds will be coordinated with the recipient and issued directly to the institution’s financial office.

The Hughston PTA is committed to honoring her legacy by supporting our students future success—ensuring that the foundation Luanne helped build continues to carry our students forward long after they leave Hughston’s halls.
